As Jake lays the love of his life Aimee down on a bed, she has just one wish- Sing Me To Sleep. For some as yet unknown reason Jake refuses to fulfill Aimee's wish. Aimee observes that he used to sing her to sleep. Through flashback we see Aimee and Jake together on the grass looking up at the sky. In conversation Aimee asks Jake if he is lonely and he says he isn't as he has her. He also states that they aren't alone as angels are watching over them. Aimee then observes that she doesn't think angels care about her and that this breaks her heart. In an effort to make Aimee feel better, Jake explains that when he was a child his mother would always sing him to sleep to make him feel better. Aimee asks Jake if he can sing her to sleep to make her feel better. As time passes, Jake has sung to Aimee and fallen asleep himself, while Aimee rests on top of him for comfort. Having relived that moment, back in the present Aimee asks Jake why he won't sing her to sleep anymore. Eventually giving up, Aimee sticks her head in her pillow as if she is going to cry. Being emotionally won over by Aimee and forgetting for a minute who Aimee is, Jakes asks her not to cry. In response Aimee says that she isn't capable of crying which Jake says he knows. As the intimate scene between Aimee and Jake continues, Aimee resumes asking him to sing her to sleep, and Jakes resumes denying her wish, leading him to feel he has no choice but to leave the room. Outside, his friend Max is waiting for him and asks Jake if he's yet sung Aimee to sleep again. Jake insists that he can't as the cycle has happened before, and now the cycle is happening again. Max observes that Jake is attached to Aimee and should at least sing her to sleep one last time. Returning to the room, Aimee with what appears to sound like a broken voice continuously repeats her request for Jake to sing her to sleep. Jake has tears in his eyes, and emotionally overwhelmed prepares to sing Aimee to sleep one more time. As he does so, he is interrupted by another girl who looks just like Aimee and asks Jake what singing is. Jake calls for Max to take the second Aimee out of the room which Max does. As Jake turns back to the first Aimee he sees that she is lifeless. Despite knowing who Aimee is, Jake is compelled to hold Aimee's lifeless hands. Max reenters and asks Jake if Aimee is asleep. Jake reaches over to check the body of Aimee and then says "Yep. Battery's dead". Aimee is therefore revealed to be a robot. Sometime later Jake is on the grass again, this time with the second Aimee, who having seen Jake about to sing the first Aimee to sleep, asks him to sing her to sleep. Torn between his feelings for the first Aimee who was more than just a robot to him, and the second Aimee who may simply be a robot to him at this moment anyway, Jake ultimately makes the choice to continue the cycle by singing Aimee to sleep.

BackgroundEdit

Sing Me to Sleep was written in a short period of time by Lee Neville with Aycan Garip in mind for the role of Aimee. Aycan Garip had previously auditioned for the as yet unproduced short film Fly with Me in spring 2010. Peter Sugden was asked to play the role of Jake's friend Max. Neville had previously acted alongside Sugden in a horror trailer. Sing Me to Sleep was shot in London, United Kingdom on Wednesday, June 2nd and Thursday, June 3rd 2010. This shooting period took place before Time Stops Moving and thus was originally due to be the second Lee Neville Entertainment production. Due to the fact that it took longer than expected to find the right composer for Sing Me to Sleep, it ended up being delayed and eventually released as the fourth Lee Neville Entertainment production, alongside the third Lee Neville Entertainment production This Dark Place.
